What is photorejuvenation?
Our skin color is determined primarily by the melanin concentration which is influenced by genetic and environmental factors. However, there are many types of pigmentary disorders, which may be inherited or acquired (infection, side effects of disease, etc.), influencing our skin tone and appearance. Some disorders affect just patches of the skin, while others affect the entire body, with different “diffusion” within the skin, in lateral direction and depth. Moreover, the pigmentary disorders may appear due to an increase in the concentration of Melanocytes and some in the Melanin production itself. Photorejuvenation is an effective facial rejuvenation treatment that owes its praise to light therapy. This non-invasive treatment is the perfect solution for those who wish to receive facial rejuvenation using an IPL treatment.

What can I expect during treatments?
Photorejuvenation uses a unique technique known as intense pulsed light (IPL) to treat skin blemishes. Essentially, this technology shines bright, intense light on various parts of the skin. You will wear an eye mask to protect your eyes from the light, and your doctor will use an IPL hand-piece, which includes an apparatus with a glass surface. This hand-piece is pressed to the problematic areas of the body, emitting a light that heats collagen beneath the skin, encouraging the body to produce more of this beneficial protein. Enhanced collagen production can fill in fine lines or wrinkles on the face as well as some shallow acne scars. IPL technology can also be used to treat hyperpigmentation and vascular lesions that discolor the face.

Significantly reduce pigmentation issues such as brown spots, flushing, or spider veins and rejuvenate skin appearance with a brighter glow.
What to expect after treatment?
After a photorejuvenation you may experience slight redness. Immediately following the procedure, you may feel as though you have a sunburn on the treatment area, though this feeling will subside within twenty-four hours. Typically, patients experience no side effects within one to two days of the procedure. Patients typically return to their daily activities after the procedure.
